The importance of taking lessons
The famous saying "Practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect" definitely applies in golf. It is often hard to notice what you are doing wrong without a trained pair of eyes watching what exactly you are doing. What it feels like and what it actually is can be quite different. What everyone should do is take lessons as soon as they think they will enjoy the game. The earlier you take lessons, the earlier you can start swinging the club more naturally and the sooner you can enjoy the game!

Short game short game short game...
There is no subsitution for the short game when it comes to lowering your scores. I've once read that most people's scores will drop to the 80s if he/she had the short game skills of the touring pros. To prove that to yourself, count how many strokes you take inside 100 yards (putting included) and see what your score will be if you can take 1 shot and 1 putt everytime you are within 100 yards. You might be surprised how low your score will be!
Therefore, practice practice practice the short game. Remember to send me part of your earnings when you start winning more and more bets on the course.
